Julie Tanous is a sought-after recipe developer, food writer and, with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the co-creator of "Food Between Friends," an acclaimed blog featuring recipes regularly covered in leading print and online media. Julie and Jesse’s debut cookbook Food Between Friends published by Clarkson Potter will be available March 9, 2021.
Her recipes have been featured in Food & Wine magazine, Food & Wine's 2017 Annual Cookbook, Bake from Scratch, Taste of the South, People magazine, LA Weekly and InStyle.com. Julie has developed and or tested recipes for numerous cookbooks including: Better on Toast: Happiness on a Slice of Bread by Jill Donenfeld; The Sprinkles Baking Book by Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson; Bong Appétit: Mastering the Art of Cooking with Weed by the editors of MUNCHIES, among others.
She has worked in the test kitchen at Saveur magazine, served as West Coast Director of The Culinistas, a private chef and catering company, and developed recipes for various companies, including Rosa Labs, makers of Soylent.
Julie is a graduate of New York City’s Institute of Culinary Education and a member of Women Chefs & Restaurateurs, the International Association of Culinary Professionals and The Southern Foodways Alliance. She was born and raised in Alabama, but now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two children and their French bulldog.
